# 2. Introduction

For competition results to be included in the FIS database and to be considered for FIS points, results must be provided via XML file in the format described in this document. A very basic example of the XML file:

This document describes the XML format for all para disciplines as the only major difference between these is the prefix for most XML tags.

- PSB – Para Snowboard
- PCC – Para Cross Country
- PAL – Para Alpine Skiing

The example above is a valid XML for Para Cross-Country results but would be valid also for any of the other disciplines using the respective discipline code, if the “`PSB_`” prefix is used, e.g. `PSB_race`, `PSB_classified`. All the examples in this document will use the “`PXX_`” prefix as a placeholder unless the example defines other specific discipline information.

## 2.1. Result separation

Results must be submitted by codex, as indicated on the FIS calendar. Competitions are grouped or separated based on the FIS point calculation requirements for each discipline.

For example, in PAL, results are submitted as a single race within one XML file. However, in PCC, categories may be grouped differently depending on athlete participation and calculation rules. This can result in multiple codices within a single competition, and therefore, necessitate a separation of results. As a rule of thumb, if the results for each category must be calculated independently, then each category should have its own dedicated codex in the calendar.

## 2.2. Sending XML results to FIS

Results in the correct XML format must be sent as an e-mail attachment to [results@fis-ski.com](mailto:results@fis-ski.com). Once received and processed an e-mail response will be sent informing of successful result processing or of any errors in case if processing failed.

# 3. XML structure

## 3.1. The `<Fisresults>` element

XML file will always have root `<Fisresults>` element that it will contain two child elements - all the race defining information within `<Raceheader>` and results with optional race details within `<SB_race>` or `<FS_race>` depending on the discipline.

The element accepts no attributes and has these possible child elements:

## 3.2. The `<Raceheader>` element

The `<Raceheader>` element defines the global properties of a race, importantly – season code, codex, race date and gender. Whenever XML results file is being processed, this data is used to find the race in the FIS database.

The element has two required attributes:

### 3.2.1. The `<Type>` element within `<Raceheader>`

The `<Type>` element accepts multiple values as strings (startlist, partial, unofficial, official) and one attribute:

### 3.2.2. The `<Racedate>` element within `<Raceheader>`

The `<Racedate>` element accepts three child elements:

## 3.3. The `<PXX_race>` element

The `<PXX_race>` element defines the competition specific information (jury, course etc.) along with the results of the competition. The element accepts three child elements:

## 3.4. The `<PXX_raceinfo>` element

The `<PXX_raceinfo>` accepts multiple child elements:

## 3.5. The `<Jury>` element

The `<Jury>` element is used to define a jury member. It accepts one attribute:

## 3.6. The `<Finalformat>` element

The `<Final>` element withing `<PSB_raceinfo>` is used to define details about the format competition was held in and is currently only intended for Para Snowboard Cross events:

## 3.7. The `<Qualificationformat>` element

The `<Qualification>` element within `<PSB_raceinfo>` is used to define the qualification phase format and type:

## 3.8. The `<PXX_classified>` element

The `<PXX_classified>` element is used to send the results or start list. In case of results, this should contain only the athletes that have been ranked in the competition.

The element accepts one or multiple `<PXX_ranked>` child elements:

## 3.9. The `<PXX_notclassified>` element

The `<PXX_notclassified>` element is used to send information on competitors that were not ranked in a competition, e.g. DNS, DNF, NPS etc.

The element accepts one or multiple `<PXX_notranked>` child elements:

## 3.10. The `<PXX_ranked>` and `<PXX_notranked>` element

The `<PXX_ranked>` and `<PXX_notranked>` elements can be validated differently depending on whether the XML file type in the `<Raceheader>` (see [3](#321-the-type-element-within-raceheader)) is defined as start list or results. Also, the amount and type of information required can be different depending on whether the `<PXX_ranked>` is a direct child of `<PXX_classified>/<PXX_notclassified>` or it is used to define individual result as part of a team as a direct child of `<PXX_team>`.

The element accepts attributes:

## 3.11. The `<PXX_team>` element

This element wraps nested `<PXX_ranked>` elements for purposes of team composition and results. Note: if a competitor competes for multiple legs of the event, only send their information once, duplicate competitors on a team will not be accepted.

## 3.12. The `<Competitor>` element

The `<Competitor>` element is used to define information about an individual competitor, and it accepts multiple child elements:

Note: In PCC, when sending competitors as a part of a [`<PXX_team>`](#311-the-pxx_team-element) composition, please only include the competitor once, even if they are participating in multiple legs.

## 3.13. The `<Guide>` element

The `<Guide>` element is used to define information about an individual guide for a given Vision Impaired Competitor, and it accepts multiple child elements:

## 3.14. The `<Team>` element

The `<Team>` element is used to define information about a team:

Like `<PXX_ranked>`, also `<PXX_result>` required data will depend on whether the element is sent as part of a team (`<PXX_team>`). The element accepts attributes only when sent as a descendant of `<PXX_team>`:
